Sun-Times miracle makes articles without reporters
While Sun-Times stock was dropping to below 30 cents a share and people were piling on one former Sports pundit, at least one thing was continuing: the newspaper once known as The Bright One is still covering meetings of the Chicago Board of Education — sort of.
On August 28, 2008, the Sun-Times reported on the Chicago Board of Education meeting of August 27, 2008.
The report was very similar to the basic public relations materials that the CPS Office of Communications had been providing about the school system’s $6.2 billion budget and other things, but most of the activities at the Board meeting were left out. Substance reporters don’t recall seeing anyone from the Sun-Times during the Board’s August 27 meeting.
