WEEKEND ENTERTAINMENT: Matt Farmer and the Blue State Cowboys at McClellan's
If prophetic political music is your style, then Saturday night October 20, 2012, is your night. One of Chicago's best entertainment values unfolds again this Saturday when Matt Farmer and the Blue State Cowboys play at McKellin's Pub on Touhy at California on Chicago's exotic far north side. No cover for the show, which begins at 8:00 p.m. The group is famous for the Rahm Emanuel election satire "Too Big to Fail," which is still available at Substancenews.net and on You Tube. According to the press release:
"The Blue State Cowboys return to McKellin’s Pub in West Rogers Park this Saturday night for three hours of roadhouse rock-n-roll and honky-tonk classics. Our lawyer-heavy Chicago lineup is going to be augmented by St. Louis sax man/barrister Neal Connors (one-half of the mighty St. Louis Horns), who’ll make the drive up I-55 for this event, and we always sound better when we’re joined by honorary Blue State Cowgirl Annalee Koehn, whose vocal talents are in constant demand around Chicago. Serving, as usual, as an additional check on the lawyers in the lineup will be Chicago guitar ace Steve Doyle, who has worked stages from New York City to Austin, Texas and always brings the Telecaster fire.
