'Teacher Appreciation Week'... In case you missed it, Rahm really cares about appreciating teachers. And he sent out a brief press release to prove it

During the nearly two years since Rahm Emanuel became Mayor of Chicago, he has rarely let a day pass without sending out a detailed press release claiming that another corporation has "brought jobs" to Chicago. Often, the corporate propaganda, which always comes out of the "Mayor's Press Office" on the fifth floor of City Hall, ignores the fact that despite all the supposed job growth, the unemployment rate in Chicago is still as high as it was when Chicago elected Rahm. And the mayor knows that no one is fact checking his corporate claims, or someone might have noticed that the claims made to the press two years ago turned out to be, in the immortal words of Richard M. Nixon, no longer ...

So as Chicago moved into "Teacher Appreciation Week," the Mayor's Press Office dutifully issued a press release in which Chicago's mayor dutifully repeated his appreciation of the city's teachers. In one of the briefest Rahm statements ever, the press released issued on May 7, 2013, stated:

CONTACT:. Mayor’s Press Office. 312.744.3334.

“This National Teacher Appreciation Week, we take time to honor the incredible teachers we have across this city, who dedicate their lives to supporting our students and providing them with an education that is key to their future success. With the support and guidance from a great teacher, a child’s potential is limitless. But educating our children is not only the responsibility of our teachers. With parents as active partners in our children’s education, there is no limit to what our children can achieve.”
