Thanks from NAACP

October 28, 2007

To George Schmidt:

Having you at that NAACP meeting was quite a plus. A motion was made (and passed) that the membership committee would work with Substance (and you), as well as other like minded organizations, and persons, on related issues concerning education. Of course Dr. Jean Oden would remain at the helm. She is such a dynamo.

We are so pleased you spoke to us and shared your knowledge (and insight) with us on that Saturday. You had a captive audience and I have received calls or laments from those who were unable to attend or hear about the panel.  I am so glad you were able to come and speak. Will any of this wind up in an upcoming issue? Hope so. It just might make the powers-to-be nervous and have others sit up and take notice.

Jean believes these meetings are going extremely well. Also we have started a history committee which will involve the establishment of the branch, "according to decades", being with 1910. I suppose we will need a museum-like environment when we really get going and for the future.

We are attempting to keep this historic branch functioning, as it should. We do look forward to working with you and Substance.

Give my best to Sharon.

Take care,
