Board 'expenses' review looks like an attempt to cover up questionable spending by Huberman, others

Just before what was supposed to be an emotional meeting of the Chicago Board of Education in memory of deceased Board President Michael Scott, the Board's Communications Department informed reporters that Board Vice President Clara Muñana was going to hold a press conference. The event was to announce that the Board would be hiring an outside lawyer to do what Muñana called an "audit" of Board expenses. While some thought the audit was going to cover the expenses of the seven members of the Board, during the event Muñana revealed that it would also cover the expenses of "staff". No member of the CPS staff was available during the press conference. The only two individuals who took questions were Muñana and the newly hired outside counsel, ____ Jones.

At the end of the Board meeting, Board communications department staff announced in loud voices that no Board members or staff would take questions following a series of emotional speeches given in memory of Board President Michael Scott.
