Subscript: Huberman dumps area attendance staff in latest purge

Fifteen years after his mentor Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley eliminated truant officers in Chicago's public schools, Daley protegé Ron Huberman is eliminating the last vestiges of a program that might have made a dent in the truancy problem in CPS.

Ron said it would not effect the classroom? Here is proof that it will.

On December 17, 2009, Substance received another anonymous tip from a very reliable source. "The AAAs were laid off today, too," the source wrote. "these were the area students attendance coordinators..." Some principals considered their services useful, especially in light of the fact that the Huberman administration is making data on truancy and dropouts part of its "accountability" data plan, despite the fact that resources and professional staff to stop truancy are being eliminated.
