RAHMWATCH: 'There will be no media availability...' Chicago's mayor will continue dodging the press even as the fire burns to his door in the Chicago Public Schools corruption scandals (yes, that's a plural)...

If anyone believed that a few journalistic scoops laying the current corruption scandals at Chicago Public Schools at the door of the Mayor's Office on the fifth floor of City Hall was going to deter Rahm Eamanuel from his compulsive Hollywood scripting of "Chicagoland" you were wrong. The mayor will continue denying his personal involvement in the corruptions at the nation's third largest school system since his May 2011 inauguration. He will continue to stonewall the growing demands that all of his appointed school board members resign (if they had any integrity they'd do so in disgrace instead of issuing platitudinous babble about how much they care about "the children"). And because the "progressive alliance" that tried to unseat him forgot to get legislation before the Illinois General Assembly for that elected school board that everyone wants, Chicago's mayor will continue to hold that power firmly in his grip.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. On Tuesday, June 2, 2015, Rahm will conduct at least three major and announced media events. At the first, he'll be at "606", probably on a bicycle (with helmet) talking about another improvement for the City of Chicago. Then he will dedicate a park named in honor of a Chicago child murdered in gang violence. Finally, he will be with European royalty, greeting the King and Queen of the Netherlands (which is actually a democracy, unlike Chicago).

And at every one of them there will be "no media availability." That means he will make statement, pose for pictures and videos, and refuse to talk about anything but what's on his latest "Chicagoland" scripting.

And at both, Rahm Emanuel will refuse to answer any reporters' questions on the biggest news story in town.

At midnight on June 2, 2015, the "Mayor's Press Office" sent out the following:

Chiraq

I hear a movie is being made about the state of affairs on Chicago streets,I also heard the title Chiraq is offensive to some.

Where were these experts in the 70's 80's and 90's.There were full scale gang wars going on in those days.Parts of the city were called 'Duck-town"because of the small arms fire.I still have a bulletin from the Police warning us teachers to be on the lookout for home made hand grenades the disciples were making.Chiraq my ass.

More than once the police have threatened to pull my press pass at one of Rahm's "media" events. At one, I wasn't even close enough to see Rahm let alone photograph him. So much for freedom of the press.

Gang violence in Chicago... Why?

The 'Chiraq' movie is not the issue. Two decades ago, the same howling was coming from certain politicians about the movie "Colors." You may remember it -- the outcry at least. One of those crying out is now a loud-mouthed U.S. Congressman. But that was almost a generation ago, and by that time Chicago's drug gangs were in their third successive generation, as I will report. Now they (those who have survived the brutal Darwinian struggle) are in their fourth generation. The question is why Chicago's economic and political owners and leaders have not been able to wipe out this ongoing murderous "plague" on certain Chicago communities. The issue is not "Chiraq." It is the fact that since the 1960s, Chicago has been plagued by "People" (five star) and "Folks" (six) without being eliminated.

I am being cynical about this.why shouldn't

somebody make millions from the misery of

war zone neighborhoods? The politicians that have allowed the cancer of drug abuse to flourish already got theirs.I wish Mr Lee would go to the graves of Al Scott or John Everett. The monument to these real heroes is standing at the corner of 83rd and Vincennes. They fought the good fight and some say they won, bet that won't be in his movie.
