Karen Lewis in Uptown last day of September -- CANCELLED?!
A few hours after Substance updated our announcement that Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis would be at a "conversations with Karen" in Uptown tonight, we received a press release from Lewis's campaign office (which is separate from the CTU) stating that the event has been cancelled. So we are adding this to the story and will try to get more information later in the day.

WHAT: Chicago Teachers Union President and possible mayoral candidate Karen Lewis will hear from Uptown families as part of the ongoing �Conversations with Karen� series.
The �Conversations with Karen� series has connected President Lewis with voters from across the city who have expressed their dismay and frustration with sky-high crime and joblessness rates, shuttered schools and clinics, the pinch of regressive sales taxes and traffic cameras on their pocketbooks, and an out-of-touch administration in City Hall. As Karen Lewis considers a possible mayoral run, these conversations are also a way to bolster democratic participation in the electoral process, with working families weighing in on the issues and policy priorities that matter most to them.

Karen Lewis has served as President of the Chicago Teachers Union, the third largest teachers local in the country and the largest local union in Illinois, since 2010. The Karen Lewis Exploratory Committee (KLEC) was set up to explore a possible mayoral campaign in the February 2015 municipal elections.
