How about 'Think Through Math'?... New Jersey corporation gets Chicago Public Schools summer math program... Contract is for $6 million...

is Chicago's Summer Bridge program coming to Chicago via computer from a company in New Jersey? According to recent information sent to us by a summer school principal, the latest contact information for "Think Through Math" is in Lakewood, New Jersey.

A copy of the Board Report that was approved unanimously and without discussion or debate at the Board's February 26, 2014 meeting. The $6 million contract with Think Through Math was approved by the Chicago Board of Education at its February 2014 meeting without discussion or debate. The program is being pushed into all elementary schools with summer schools this summer.

But rather than beat around the bush or thrash in the weeds, here is the communication:

EMAIL TO PRINCIPALS:

Good Afternoon,

First and foremost thank you very much for your support this summer, it is greatly appreciated. We look forward to working with you and your students over the next few months. Per our trainings this past Thursday, I wanted to follow up and make sure everyone is on the same page and can hit the ground running tomorrow and Tuesday.

There are currently 8,600 students that we have received from CPS that are in the Think Through Math system. Approximately 2,000 students have not been passed along on this data exchange. So, this means we need your help!!

For students that are not in the system, please use the spreadsheet attached. You or the classroom teacher needs to fill this document out (with the missing students info) and send back via email to support@thinkthroughmath.com. Your email will be processed immediately and we will upload the students from there.

If there is a delay in a classroom because students have not been uploaded, please let teachers know to use materials on hand to substitute until their students can get uploaded.

In addition, someone from TTM will be visiting your site this week so if any additional assistance is needed please reach out to them.

If you have any questions or if there is anything else I can do to assist, please do not hesitate to contact me.

According to Bill Siembieda, California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, California," New Jersey is not allowing planners or teachers unions an opportunity to provide input into new regulations and laws being passed in that state."
