Educators for Jay Travis fundraiser on South Side January 28

Jay Travis is a dedicated community leader with a 20-year-history of working for democracy, equality and social justice in Chicago. A South Side native, she has worked to improve our schools, develop affordable housing, protect our seniors and create jobs and economic opportunity for those in the margins.

Jay TravisNow she is running for State Representative. As our Representative, she will protect neighborhood schools from forced closings, fight for a living wage, and affordable health care and work to reduce crime and increase public safety throughout the 26th District. She is the only candidate in this race who strongly and publicly supported the call for a democratically elected school board, opposed public funding for charter schools, and has vowed to make sure our seniors and retirees get the pensions they earned.

At its December 2013 meeting, the Chicago Teachers Union's House of Delegates voted to support her candidacy.

Fundraiser: 3721 S Lake Park Ave Chicago IL 60653, January 28, 2014. 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
