Major City Hall protest planned for Monday, December 9... 'Naughty or nice' awards to be given

The Chicago Teachers Union, in alliance with several other organizations, will be holding a protest at Chicago's City Hall on Monday, December 9, 2013. According to a union press release: "On Monday, December 9th, hundreds of parents, students and teachers will descend upon City Hall and the Thompson Center to sing Christmas carols, deliver holiday cards, distribute lumps of petcoke coal and take stock of who has been naughty or nice. Our schools face budget cuts, under-resourcing, oversized classes, and further charter expansion, so we will present our holiday 'wish list' which includes fully funded schools, an end to the privatization of public education, and democracy for our children and their communities."
