New McKinley Park charter school -- scabs in every way

Despite resident opposition, the charter school had the support of alderman George Cardenas.

Cutting the corners while buidling new schools

I wonder if they will cut the corners like they did at nearby Cesar Chavez School in "Back of the Yards", where we went public to get the faulty intake system moved to the roof, as it was sucking up vehicle exhaust fumes, and first thing you knew you'd be breathing toxic fumes in the class room. Substance, The Reader, and Streetwise covered the story.
