In Chicago, absolute power means you can turn one month into another. In March 2013, Rahm Emanuel turned March into April and for the first time in more than 150 years the school board went more than a month without a meeting.

Thousands of people across Chicago were noting that for the first time in history Chicago passed a full month without a meeting of its school board. Why? Because the members of the Board of Eduction (all Emanuel appointees) voted at their February meeting to turn "March" into "April" -- rescheduling the March meeting until April 3 after planning began for the massive March 27 rally, march and civil disobedience against the latest plutocrats' attacks on the city's real public schools.
