CORE candidates, slate headed by CTU President Karen Lewis, prepare for election fundraiser at Second City

Following their January 28 nomination to run for office on the CORE slates, the 40 candidates for union offices and the officers of the Chicago Teachers Union are moving energetically forward on their campaign for a second term for the union leaders who led the first Chicago teachers strike in a quarter century and have been re-energizing the union movement. On January 28, 2013, at an unprecedented meeting of the members of CORE, the nominations were made and the election season begun.

Karen Lewis, Jesse Sharkey, Michael Brunson, and Kristine Mayle will be the headliners at a fundraising performance of Chicago's famous Second City comedy theater on the evening of February 10, 2013.

One week before the event is scheduled to take place, tickets are selling out fast. Those who wish to be there on February 10 at Second City can purchase the tickets, which cost $50 each, quickest by going to the CORE website: www.coreteachers.com.
