Retiree luncheon

The Retiree Chapter held its Holiday Luncheon on Dec. 19, 2012 at Maggiano"s Little Italy. The festivites included a social hour with appetizers. Of the strips of fried eggplant, zuccini, at cheese sticks, Abraham Tally, retiree from Kelly H. S. liked the zuccini best.

Jesse Sharkey spoke first as he introduced John Keating for the blessing. Jesse said that the Tribune that very day had uncovered that CPS Board had lied when it said it did not have a hit list of schools to be closed. ("CPS Had Closings Draft Months Ago," pp. 1, 12). John Keating mentioned the tragedy in Connecticut in his blessing. Then Jesse introduced Michael Brunson for the official Welcome to all participants. Michael said if people say there's no list, and there's a list,that it is a lie. He believed, " If people lie, they will cheat, and then steal." He hoped that all would have a nice afternoon.

Pat Knazze announced the guest speakers.Retiree Chair James Ward, Kevin Huber of the Chicago Teachers Pension Fund, and Mary Cavallaro, Director of Health Benefits. She also said there were index cards on the table for people to write questions which would be answered at the end of the speeches.
