Thanksgiving Week is not going to begin or end quietly for Chicago and Chicago Teachers Union activists. On Monday, November 21, 2011, there are two significant events, the CORE meeting at Letter Carriers Hall and the Kenwood LSC meeting at Kenwood.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2011. WHAT? The meeting of the Kenwood High School Local School Council (LSC) is taking place on WHEEN? Monday, Nov 21, 2011 at 6:00pm.

WHERE? Kenwood "Academy" High School.

WHY? The unlon teachers at the school and the Chicago Teachers Union are calling for community and teacher support against the principal, how has been attacking the school's activist union delegate.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2011. CORE MEMBERSHIP Meeting Monday, November 21, 2011.

WHAT? CORE'S monthly membership meeting.

WHEN: Monday, November 21, 2011. 4:30pm – 6:00pm

WHERE: National Assoc. of Letter Carriers Hall, 3850 S. Wabash, Chicago.

WHY? CORE will be mobilizing this winter for the fifth time to head off the latest privatization Hit List of the Chicago Public Schools and for other reasons. Topics: School Closings; Upcoming Events & Fundraisers; AFT Convention Ideas; January CTU Delegate Elections; Organizing agains the ongoing attacks on teacher and CPS worker rights in Chicago's public schools.

CHICAGO TEACHERS UNION HOUSE OF DELEGATES MEETING. WHAT? WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2011. Chicago Teachers Union House of Delegates meeting.

WHEN: Wednesday, November 30, 2011. 4:30pm – ?? p.m.

WHERE: Operating Engineers Union Hall

WHY? The CTU House of Delegates will be meeting to review the proposed contract demands for 2012 and to discuss other business.

TEACH IN AGAINST THE 2012 CPS HIT LIST. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2011. WHAT? Teach-In on Stopping CPS School Closings

WHEN? Saturday, December 3, 2011, 10:00 AM-2:00 PM

WHERE? King College Prep. 4445 S. Drexel Blvd.

WHY: Background: CTU is very concerned about the draft of the Chicago Public Schools’ School Action (school closing) Guideline Policy for several reasons, primarily the over-reliance on the "Performance Policy" (test scores).
