AFL-CIO chief to speak at Chicago-Kent College of Law October 6

Richard Trumka, former coal miner and currently President of the AFL-CIO, will deliver a lecture in Chicago on the afternoon of October 6, 2011. September 07, 2011. According to the press release from the Chicago Federation of Labor:

AFL-CIO President Richard L. Trumka will be the special guest at this year's Distinguished Labor Leader Lecture sponsored by the Chicago Federation of Labor and the Chicago-Kent College of Law Institute for Law and the Workplace on Thursday, October 6.

Mr. Trumka was elected President of the AFL-CIO on September 16, 2009 after serving 15 years as Secretary-Treasurer. Growing up in the Pennsylvania coalfields, he worked in the mines, attended Penn State University and received a law degree from Villanova University. At age 33, he was elected the United Mine Workers' youngest president.
