MEDIA WATCH: June 2010 Substance website traffic breaks a previous record, despite five days of cyberscrewups

Traffic at www.substancenews.net during June 2010 was the highest in history (by the measure of "unique visitors") and near the highest levels in history — despite seriously reduced traffic to the site during the five days (June 12 through June 16) when problems with our Web host, Network Solutions) undermined most of the people who were trying to get to the site.

Through June 29, 2010 (the June 30 data were not yet available when this article was written), the totals were: Jun 2010: Unique visitors (June 2010): 4,707; Total Hits (June 2010): 509.362. Total unique visitors for 2010: 22,285. Total Hits for 2010: 2,558,358. These data are according to 'Site Stats.' compiled independently of Substance.

Comments to Substance articles on the Web were also increasing, despite the fact that Substance refuses to publish comments that make references to specific individuals unless the writer clearly identifies himself or herself. Substance is not a blog and only allows anonymous comments when they are of a general nature. One comment posted June 30, 2010, for example, was deleted by the editor on July 1 when it became obvious that the writer had used a phony Yahoo e-mail address. The attempted comment, who used the name "Little does Bill gates know", tried to provide Substance with a false e-mail address (luckycharm @yahoo... and was immediately deleted.

Substance advertising rates are being set according to a combination of data from Web and print circulation and are available from Substance upon request. 
