Rally for the Elected School Board on October 21

There will be a Townhall meeting for the Elected, Representative School Board on Wednesday, Oct 21, 2015 at 6:00 PM at the Grant Memorial AME Church, 4017 South Drexel Boulevard Chicago.

According to a press release from the Teachers for Social Justice, "WE NEED AN ELECTED, REPRESENTATIVE SCHOOL BOARD IN CHICAGO! There will be two elected School Board members from the Milwaukee, WI Board who will talk about how an elected Board can bring more democracy and what people can accomplish with an elected board. How is it that in 2015 that parents, grandparents and community members had to go on a Hunger Strike to save their last open enrollment high school? This is an extreme example of the critical need for true democracy throughout CPS in all our schools. Join the Kenwood Oakland Community Organization, Action Now, and the Hope Center for a Townhall meeting to share your concerns about education and learn about the current legislation in Springfield, House Bill 4268 that will end Mayoral control of Chicago's schools and bring an Elected, Representative School Board to Chicago for the first time in history!

Illinois HB 4268 Chief Co-Sponsors Invited!
