RAHM'S PSEUO-NEWS: Mayor spends public money on Walmart propaganda featuring Rahmphotos

On September 10, 2013, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, via the "Mayor's Press Office," Rahm's personal taxpayer-supported propaganda office, issued another press release with photograph, this time touting Walmart. The press release, with the desired photographs showing Rahm with his mayoral diversity background, foreground, and middle ground.

The above photo shows Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel (second from left, shortest person in the photo) along with Alderman Anthony Beale (third from left) cutting the ribbon for Walmart. As usual, the "Mayor's Press Office" version of the event focused almost exclusively on the mayor: the suggested caption from "The Mayor's Press Office" reads: Photo Caption: Mayor Emanuel joins Alderman Beale and community members at the grand opening of a new Walmart Supercenter in the Pullman neighborhood.MAYOR RAHM EMANUEL ANNOUNCES NEW WALMART SUPERCENTER IN PULLMAN NEIGHBORHOOD

Today Mayor Rahm Emanuel cut the ribbon at the new Walmart Supercenter located in the Pullman neighborhood. The Walmart Supercenter will create 400 new jobs and provide a wide variety of services to the neighborhood, including increased access to affordable groceries and a full-service pharmacy. The Walmart, located at 10900 South Doty Avenue, is expected to be a key anchor of commerce and economic growth in the area.

“This Walmart Supercenter is a vote of confidence in the future of the Pullman neighborhood, creating new options for consumers, good jobs for residents and economic opportunity for both the community and the company,” said Mayor Rahm Emanuel. “It is another example of a company seeing an alignment of what is good for their bottom line with what is good for our neighborhoods, and I expect many more companies to see the economic dynamism that Walmart sees and follow suit by locating and investing in Pullman.”

The Pullman Walmart Supercenter will be open seven days a week from 7am to 11pm. The store will include a full line of affordable groceries including fresh produce and organic selections, convenience services including a full-service pharmacy and a MoneyCenter, and a complete selection of general merchandise.

This announcement follows on the heels of Mayor Emanuel’s continuing efforts to provide increased access to crucial goods to Chicago consumers. Since the beginning of his term in office, Mayor Emanuel has worked hard to bring new stores, including three Walmart stores, to communities that lack convenient access to fresh foods and healthy groceries. ###
