RAHM PUSHING SHOWDOWN WITHOUT COMPROMISE... The complete Hit List stays... Board agenda for May 22 meeting includes 70 'school actions' including all 53 closings. Emanuel orders showdown with protesters, unions, and majority of community leaders

The full agenda for the May 22, 2013 meeting of the Chicago Board of Education shows that even though several federal and local court judges, thousands of teachers, students and parents, and the editors of one of the city's two major newspapers now oppose the massive school closings ordered by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, the mayor's appointed school board and "Chief Executive Officer," Barbara Byrd Bennett, will go through with all of the controversial and unprecedented actions at the Board's May 22 meeting. The full Board agenda, published by law on May 20, 2013, shows the facts.

Chicago Public Schools "Chief Executive Officer" Barbara Byrd Bennett was showing off sleight of hand tricks prior to the April 3, 2013 meeting of the Chicago Board of Education. Byrd Bennett, who was brought to Chicago by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Broad Foundation following her work in the destruction of the public schools of Detroit, has issued agenda items for the May 22, 2013, Board meeting that will destroy 53 of Chicago's real public schools (through closing under the pretext of "underutilization") and 17 others (through "turnaround" and "co-location"). Substance photo by Sharon Schmidt.Every one of the 53 proposed closings for "underutilization" remains on the Board's agenda.

Every one of the six so-called "turnaround" actions, effectively firing hundreds of teachers and others remains on the agenda.

Every one of the 11 "co-locations" proposed originally remains on the agenda. In several of those cases, controversial charter schools are being moved inside existing real Chicago public schools.

All of the proposals, which still must be voted on by the six-member Chicago Board of Education, were recommended by the two ranking CPS "officers" who were overseers of the entire school closings epic that began in November 2012. They are "Chief Transformation Officer" Todd Babbitz and "Chief Executive Officer" Barbara Byrd Bennett. Neither Babbitz nor Byrd Bennett has any teaching or administration experience in Chicago's public schools. Two years ago, Babbitz was in management consulting. Two years ago, Byrd Bennett was helping destroy the Detroit public schools.
