MEDIA WATCH: Sun-Times false flags Cardenas charter school expansion story

In a clear attempt to manipulate the public, the Chicago Sun-Times in its original story posted on April 25, 2013 has published a false flag story that seems to be a victory for charter school opponents. The story with its headline “Emanuel quashes zoning change for charter school” tells of victory to stop a new charter school in the McKinley Park Area. In doing a little internet research the fact is the story is very misleading.

The proposal to rezone an industrial building at 2245 West Pershing Road to allow charter school expansion of Concepts Charter School is still on the agenda for the Chicago Zoning Board as item Number 17692 for April 30, 2013 10 am. Looking at the legal document downloaded from the Office of City Clerk, which posts past and upcoming meeting information Committee on Zoning, Landmarks and Building Standards if one clicks on the Addendum to Regular Agenda, Concept Schools NFP is still on the agenda for TUESDAY, April 30,2013 at 10:00 am in Council Chambers, City Hall, Chicago.

Investigating more closely the document the Addendum to Regular Agenda is date stamped 2013 April 26 AM 10:19. A full day after the original story ran in the Sun-Times proclaiming victory for charter school opponents on April 25, 2013 at 6:02 PM. The Sun-Times story was updated April 26, 2013 2:22AM with no mention of the new agenda item to expand a charter school into McKinley Park neighborhood. In multiple attempts to post the new meeting information to the comments section of the story the new meeting notice has been erased from the Sun-Times website over the weekend. At the time of the writing of this story the Sun-Times story has still not been updated to reflect the fact that the Charter expansion agenda item is on the zoning committee agenda.
