Lungevity Fund

Many of you know and some of you don't know that 2.5 years ago my mother passed away. She was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in April of 2004 and passed away in March of 2005 from this awful disease.

Since, March of 2005, I have become involved with the LUNGevity Foundation, an organization committed to raising awareness and funding for this disease. Because of the limited funding of research for this disease, 85 percent of those diagnosed with the disease will die within the first year.

Many believe that only smokers get this disease, that is a myth. Today more and more people are being diagnosed and some of them never smoked. People like me who are committed to increased funding that will eventually find a cure for Lung Cancer believe that the lack of funding comes from the stigma, that "only smokers get the disease".

That is a myth!

Regardless of if they smoked or did not smoke, everyone deserves a fighting chance. This is a horrible disease that is why I have committed myself to the cause of raising funding and awareness. On October 13, 2007 at 8:30 A.M. at the William W. Powers Fish and Wildlife Area 12949 S. Ave. "O". I will be coordinating the walk and rally. I hope you all can support this cause. Attached is the walk flyer. Please forward this to anyone you think might be interested in participating.
