Substance articles delayed because of technical difficulties with the website...

Since August 23, 2016, publishing articles on the Substance website has been impaired because of technical difficulties. Substance staff members have been notified that a queue is being established and that articles will be published as we work out this latest round of bugs in our decade-old Website. There is no evidence that anyone has deliberately interfered with the publication of articles and comments at substancenews.net. Articles have been queued since August 23, when the problems first came to my attention as editor.

Substance readers are still able to make comments about articles as they appear -- and about articles from previous years -- by clicking on "Comment" underneath the headline of the article. Readers who wish to comment must provide our readers with their full first and last names, just as we provide our readers with the full byline of our reporters. Trolling and pseudonyms are unhealthy in a democracy that demands more transparency, not less.

Readers can also find more than 5,000 articles and graphics through our BACK ISSUES function (on the Menu Bar). Unlike blogs, Substance is a website which makes locating back issues and information from the past easy. We are this summer looking for assistance in putting all of our back issues beginning in August 1975 (when we began publishing as a print paper) on line. For the present, we are available on line at substancenews.net to 2008, and on line at substancenews.com from 2002 through 2007.

Readers who wish to contact Substance can also contact us via email at Csubstance@aol,com.

Substance readers:

You must give your first name and last name under "Name" when you post a comment at substancenews.net. We are not operating a blog and do not allow anonymous or pseudonymous comments. Our readers deserve to know who is commenting, just as they deserve to know the source of our news reports and analysis.

Please respect this, and also provide us with an accurate e-mail address.

Thank you,

The Editors of Substance
