About half the people who post comments to the Substance Web site (www.substancenews.net) do so anonymously or pseudonymously. While we do not require you to use your own real name, we encourage that you do so. If you choose to use a pseudonym or blooger's handle, however, you must supply us with your real e-mail address or your comment will be deleted. To repeated: Beginning today (October 27, 2009) anyone who posts an anonymous or pseudonymous comment to www.substancenews.net must give us his or her real e-mail address or you will be deleted. While we personally believe it's unhealthy for people to spin words without standing behind them, the conventions of the Blogosphere have gone beyond our opinions on that. However, in order to post a comment here you have to supply us with an e-mail address. About one in five people who have been posting here are not only posting anonymously, but also falsifying the information they provide to this site by cooking up a phony e-mail address. As you know, with a little bit of tweaking we could find out your real address, but it's not worth our time. If you choose to post anonymously and to post a phony e-mail address, you will not be permitted to post here. We have to know who you are, even if the rest of our readers don't As we have reported regularly, we have never burned a source, and we have maintained off the record sources for the past 35 years. So put in the correct e-mail address from which you are posting or find someplace else to devote your prose to.
