Theater in Our Parks Festival (Teen Media Creators screening)

Monday, October 14, 2019 10:00 AM 5:00 PM

The Theater in Our Parks Fest will be a daylong community theater and performance festival, focusing on the current state of community theater and the impact of cultural programs in parks and cultural centers. It will include 10-minute dramas/performances, workshops from the parks’ drama/cultural instructors and arts partners, and a resource fair. It will be the culmination of the theater community conversation series, and feature documentary pieces from our 3 youth media teams (below).

In support of the Year of Chicago Theater:

·Chicago Park District’s Inferno (teens from Columbus Park) covered Kuumba Lynx’s “Reimagining” (part of Hip Hop Theater Fest) at Clarendon Park on Sunday, June 9th.

·Chicago Public Libraries’ YouMedia (teens from Humboldt Park) covered Albany Park Theater Project’s “Our Chicago: the City We Live In” at 3 different locations on Tuesday, August 6th.

·Free Spirit Media (team from Homan Square) covered Free Street Theater’s “Building Sustainable and Joyful Futures” at Austin Town Hall on Saturday, Sept 28th.

Come enjoy these mini-documentary pieces on events hosted by theater groups in the Arts Partners in Residence program in the parks this year!
