Charter School Experiences? Substance wants to hear the truth from those who have suffered from the Chicago charter school experience

On November 15, 2006, 62 individuals signed up to speak at the monthly meeting of the Chicago Board of Education.

Of those, 45 were from charter schools. Chicago charter schools have been the main schools favored by Mayor Richard M. Daley’s “Renaissance 2010” plan. Charter schools, with the assistance of highly paid staff from the Board’s Office of New Schools, have regularly hijacked the monthly meetings of the Chicago Board of Education to create what amount to marketing pitches for their schools. Usually, these pitches include attacks on the city’s public schools and teachers.

Since March 2007, Substance has begun publishing regular stories reporting the truth from inside Chicago charter schools. If you have had experiences with Chicago charter schools that contradict the marketing claims and public relations hoopla, contact Substance by phone (773-725-7502) or e-mail (Csubstance@aol.com). 
