LABOR BEAT VIDEO: 'Two day strike at UIC...'

They had been working for 18 months without a contract, so they had no other choice but to call a two-day strike. On February 18-19, 2014 University of Illinois/Chicago United Faculty put up picket lines at the west-of-the-Loop city campus. Over a thousand faculty members and student supporters marched, chanted and spoke to the media. Then they returned to contract negotiations after demonstrating to the administrating the strong campus-wide support for the teachers. The URL is: http://youtu.be/fp50pyPHj-U

"The increasing profits of the University now making more than the University of Phoenix, a profit-making institution. $1.3 billion in reserves...One lecturer's students over a year bring in $300,000 to the University. That lecturer is making $30,000 a year. Only 10 cents on the dollar is going for instruction."
