Chicago dumping hundreds of teachers just in time for 'Charter School Jobs Fair'

Just as Chicago is continuing its attack on the city's real public schools by dumping hundreds of veteran teachers and other schools staff, almost as a spooky coincidence Chicago teachers are receiving emails that they can participate in the "Charter Schools Job Fair." Now that the Chicago teachers union, dozens of community organizations and tens of thousands of teachers, parents and students have realized that the six members of the Chicago Board of Education and the current "Chief Executive Officer" (this year's version "RAHM 2.0 is Barbara Byrd Bennett) are engaged in overt sabotage of the real public schools of the third largest city in the USA, the evidence continues just to make a perfect fit.

It's been more than ten years since the time former Mayor Richard M. Daley appointed Arne Duncan as CEO. Duncan had no credentials as a teacher or administrator, but became Daley's second "CEO" at the nation's third largest school system. Duncan's main job was to hide behind a smokescreen of neo-liberal cliches while implementing the massive closing of real public schools ("Renaissance 2010" was the name of the main program) while forcing parents and families out of the city's public schools and into ever expanding and never accountable public schools.

The road hasn't been as easy in Chicago since Duncan became U.S. Secretary of Education in 2009, but Duncan's bigger job, which he has succeeded in, was to export the massive privatization "Chicago Plan" across the USA behind the evaporating reputation of President Barack Obama while promoting charter schools through "Race To The Top."

The charter schools information sent to Chicago teachers follows here:

Destruction of the Public School System

Across the nation, public schools are under threat in an unconscionable attempt to thin the ranks of retiring public school employees -- nothing more, nothing less. So-called "charter schools" are private, for-profit diploma mills without benefits or pension plans. The US Constitution requires PUBLIC EDUCATION; these schools are unconstitutional, ineffective, and a waste of public money.

dumping teachers & staff

Just as other cities are following the example of Chicago in closings schools, I am sure they are going to follow the example of adding more and more charter schools. If Chicago is successful in destroying the Union, everywhere will be in trouble.

Charters recruiting laid off Philadelphia teachers, too

Exactly the same thing is happening in Philadelphia with our layoff, except they have a web site which connects laid off teachers with schools looking for teachers. Of course almost all of the job offerings are from charters because the public schools are laying off.
