SUBSTANCE ANNOUNCEMENT: Bug means few photographs at www.substancenews.net from October 6 through October 14.

After six months of relative calm (but never a "culture of calm") on the cyberfront, the Substance News website has hit a major bug (or cyberattack) which is making it difficult (practically impossible) for us to post photographs along with our articles. Because of a second problem (hardware and software of the editors), we have to delay repairing the bug for at least one week. The result is that most articles that appear on www.substancenews.net will not have graphics until the bugs have been repaired, which should be by October 14, 2010.

The other news is that the print edition of Substance for October 2010 will be mailed October 15. For the first time in months, the print edition will include more original photographs than we could publish on the Web. Anyone who subscribes to the print edition by Sunday will receive the next ten issues of the print edition (beginning with October) in the mail every month.

Unlike most of our peers (cyber journalism using print as well), we are determined not to devote a large amount of time to appeals or "Pledge Drives." Thanks for your continued support.
